OLED display manufacturers explain what OLED display is and what advantages it has.
The principle is that ITO transparent electrodes and metal electrodes are used as the anodes and cathodes of devices respectively. Under a certain voltage drive, electrons and holes are injected from the cathode and anode into the electron and hole transport layers respectively. Electrons and holes migrate through the electron and hole transport layers to the luminescent layer, and meet in the luminescent layer to form excitons and excite the luminescent molecules. The latter is relaxed by radiation. It emits visible light. Radiated light can be observed from the ITO side, and the metal electrode film also acts as a reflective layer. The display based on this principle is called organic light-emitting display, or OLED display. The device structure mainly includes substrate, transparent electrode, organic light-emitting layer and so on. The thickness of OLED organic light-emitting layer is very thin (less than 500 nm), so OLED devices can be made very thin. Flexible OLED devices can also be fabricated if the substrates are changed to flexible substrates such as metal or plastic films. In addition, transparent OLED devices can be fabricated by selecting appropriate transparent electrodes and transparent substrates.
Technical advantages of OLED
1. OLED has the advantages of simple structure and low power consumption (the display brightness is higher under the same power consumption).
2. OLED has a fast response speed. It plays dynamic images without trailing. It can naturally display images with a sense of motion.
3. OLED has a wide viewing angle. It can see the vivid and delicate picture from any angle. The side-view picture color is not distorted.
4. OLED is an active light emitting device without backlight. It has thinner devices, higher contrast and brighter colors.
5. OLED has excellent high and low temperature performance and can adapt to the special environment such as severe cold.
